BNP urges people to take a new pledge to restore democracy through the movement and release the party's chairperson Khaleda Zia.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said, 'On this great day, we call upon the people to take a new pledge to restore democracy, maintain the goals and consciousness of the liberation war, and to liberate the mother of democracy Khaleda Zia.'
After paying tribute to the BNP leaders and activists on behalf of the martyrs of the Liberation War at Savar, he told reporters, 'We must definitely restore democracy through the movement and release our leader (Khaleda Zia).'
Fakhrul complained that in 1971, the Awami League government destroyed the spirit and ideology of the people who had jumped into the liberation war with the spirit and ideology of the people.
He accused the ruling party of establishing a party rule like BAKSAL.
'All rights of the people have been snatched with the right to vote. There is no security in their lives, 'said Fakhrul.
